Re:setting tps voltage

Thanks for the info, looks pretty easy, I will try this this weekend and let you know if it worked. One other thing i noticed was the bell crank? seems to be real sloppy. Are these sloppy on the shaft from the factory. What i am calling the bell crank is the linkage that revolves that physically operates the tps sensor. Thanks for everyones help.
John

Re:setting tps voltage

adjusted the tps voltage and now the torque converter appears to be working perfect. No more rpm increases in fourth gear and the cruise control works perfect again. Brfore it would increase speed after being set. Thanks for the help.
John

Re:setting tps voltage

Can you tell me what problems you were having with the tranny before you adjusted the TPS? Mine seems to shift into OD a little early with a bigger drop in rpm's and power. Would adjusting the TPS gain me anything? Thanks.

Paul

Re:setting tps voltage

The problem that i was havining is the computer was sending a signal to the tranny to unlock the torque converter while i was cruising at 60 plus MPH in overdrive. This would cause the engine RPM's to jump up by 300. This was happening about every 15 seconds. This really was annoying. The cruise control also was malfunctioning. I suspect that this adjustment might help your problem but i would ask some one more knowlegable then me. It certianly would not hurt to at least check the voltage setting of the TPS. I do know that adjusting the voltage can impact when the overdrive engages. I am just very happy that this worked for me. I like driving my truck again. Thanks again.

Re:setting tps voltage

I've had a shudder in 1st since I got the truck used in Nov 02. I checked the cable linkage between the throttle and transmission. It was not centered, changed this and the shudder is better. Also checked the voltage on the TPS and it is low at idle position (0.4 volts). I'm checking to see if the throttle linkage was ever replaced (recall B15) before digging any further. Thanks for the response. I'll update with outcome.

Paul
