power steering getting weak

Has any one had problems with their power steering going out?
I think mine is slowly getting less and less of a power assist. What could be going? The pump? Or is it just my imagination? Cunfused in NC. :'(

Gentlemen -

My '01 is doing the same thing. It is particulary stiff when cold. Its been that way for 50,000 miles now, so I'm just waiting for it to quit. Once warm, it is fine. It is my understanding that this is a problem area, much like the lift pumps. I'd like to hear from others who have experienced the same problem.

Re:power steering getting weak

thanks, I was hoping my truck was not alone. Mine has begun to feel hard to steer while cruising down the highway at the speed limit. Anybody else having problems? Do I need to replace the pump?

Re:power steering getting weak

Probably a dumb question but have any of you experiencing hard steering checked your belt tensions?
