I decided today that since i was late, and running low on fuel, that it would be wise to put the pedal down and haul --- to work. I ran my 2000 dodge ram 2500 24v cummalong too low or possibly out of diesel. Ive tried all that i can find to get her started ,but to no avail. So .... pick-up pump? ..injector pump? lift pump? what sould i do?
First order of business would be to see if you are getting fuel past the filter (crack open a fitting) if yes, then you need to have someone crank it and loosed one of the injector line to A: find out if you are getting fuel from the IP and B: bleed any air that may be present.
I would suggest putting a good 8-10 gallons in it too, I have read where guys onlyput 2-5 gallons in after running dry and just couldn't get it to go for some reason.
Look in the top of the fuel filter canister, diesel in there?

Did you try cracking injector lines open to bleed the air? or check to see if lift pump is running? or see if the fuel filter has fuel in it. Check and try these things and let us know what happens. And welcome to all the know how you could ever want for these trucks.
Yes, I tried all that . i cracked every line, should have been soaked with fuel.
Also kept a good watch on fuel filter bowl level . I put about 6 gal. of fuel in her , but im not sure if that is enough.

Did you check to see if you have any codes in the dash by turning the key on and off 3 times and reading the codes in the odometer? It should say pcm done then ecm done after any codes it shows or it will just show done if no codes.

Cause you are not suppose to run your truck out of fuel?
It's just not a good idea to run around town with less than 1/2 tank. It's just plain dumb for several reasons.
#1. Extra fuel cools the injection pump. The less fuel you have in the tank the less cooling there is.
#2. Water condensation in the fuel. The more air there is in the tank the more water will condense in the tank.
#3. Less air in the fuel. The more you slosh diesel around in the tank the more tiny air bubble (or in your case a very large air bubble) will enter the fuel system.
#4. There is an emergency and you need to leave your area NOW. Think I'm kidding? Ask the people who ran out of fuel leaving the hurricanes and ran out of fuel idling for 14 hours. or your buddy calls at 3:00 am and needs you to pick him up right away. You have to find a station that is open. Be prepared.
#5. Running out of fuel exposes you to harassment of know it all on DTR.
#6. A full tank actually help LP & fuel pressure. The pump has to work less hard.
Keep your tank full at all times.
