odd grinding/rubbing on drivers front during RIGHT turns

well i cruised around last night and i can feel this rubbing or grinding somewhere near the front wheel on the drivers side...but it only happens during RIGHT turns only and not very frequently yet...happens more during sharper turns...got a 4x4 by the way...tire pressures are fine...never hit a curb or anything ...just wondering what i should inspect before it gets more serious

thanx,

Andrew

My roommates truck is doing this same thing. We can't figure it out. Pulled the wheels off last weekend and everything looked fine. Spun the rotor and we couldn't hear anything.

My 2wd dually is making the same noise intermittently. I jacked it up and ran it to see if it was something in the driveline and couldn't hear anything unusual. Just did front wheel bearings less than 5000 miles ago because of this noise and it has come back...don't know if it ever really went away. I'm hoping it is not the flex plate in the auto trans....but it seems like that would be a constant noise. Very puzzling

wow i cant believe you guys have the same thing as me...i dunno about your 2wheel drive but i have been able to narrow it down....its the front differential....i put her in 4/4 and the vibration got worse... the differential is located more on the drivers side and i can almost feel the vibration under my left foot as im driving so i know its not as far as the left wheel....id bet my money its low on fluid or bad fluid....and i'll check the transfer case fluid too.....the occasional vibration.rubbing bugs me cause i dont wanna have something happen on the highway later on

the axle u-joint appears to be fine...gonna open up the front diff gotta be there

i had the same thing, Cheak the sides of the frame to see if the tire rubs when you turn, also my tire was hitting the fender liner.

Occasionally the exhaust pipe will get a little close to a body panel or frame member and when you make a turn the exh will just touch the body or frame and make noise. Make sure your cab mounts are tight too.

Mine happen to be the front driveshaft binding up with a bad U-Joint. It was the set by the transfer case. Had to replace the whole drive-shaft. Thankful that is was under DC warranty yet.

This might solve your problem: had the same noise, 2 WD took it in to the dealer...

When you turn your wheel, the only thing that limits your turn is metal to metal contact with the wheel and brake frame with the lower A frame. Not sure if this is intentional or not..... This contact along with the turning motion causes the high pitch popping sound.... So he put some grease at the contact point and the sound is now gone....I'll put a little grease there after each wash..... Not sure about 4WD's but the technician showed me several Jeeps and Rams with the same rub mark...

I recently had a grinding noise on my 2004 2wd duallie . It turned out being a front wheel bearing . I was not happy to learn that the bearing and hub assembly are one piece and bearings are sealed ( like the ball joints I had to replace at 35,000 miles on my '99 Durango ) . Replacing a wheel bearing at the dealer cost over $500 . They don't make them like they used to . I had the ball joints on the Durango replaced with Moog joints at a local tire shop . Poor Daimler/Chrysler quality may cost me money but they won't be the ones to profit from it .

I have the same problem on a 2005 3500 4X4, only makes sound when making hard right turns for example, a tight parking space. makes sound but little vibration. I am assuming factory defect but harmless.
