Exclamation No Lights

Hey yall, Thanks for reading and helping me with this. I have a friend who just called me from Dallas. He said that he has no turn signal or brake lights. Said he was using his flashers this morning because of the fog and now nothing works. He said that his running lights and head lights are working and that he checked his fuse and it was good. Any help with this would be greatly apprciated but both of us. He has a 1998 ext. cab 4 wheel drive 1 ton dually ctd. Thanks Mike

Replace the bulbs and see what happens. That would be a cheap and easy place to start.

when yu have just headlights and running lights on the cab, its usually the headlight switch on the dash. well, ive replaced 2 on mine when it does that. $20 part, 20 minute replacement with minimal tools.

I would also suspect the headlight switch. My uncles truck is 93 (I know its way older but I don't think there were many upgrades to how they wire the lights) ctd ex cab dually so it has the cab lights and marker lights on fenders and what not, anyways he melted like three headlight swicthes in just over a month. I think its to many lights to be running through the switch maybe if it is the switch he could add some relays for the headlights to take some of the load off of the switch. Just my opinion

Cycle the hazard switch again. Sometimes they don't get a good contact in the off position, and that is required for the signals to work.

Do they come on and not blink? Not come on at all.....what exactly are the symptoms?

Sorry about the late response. He is blowing the fuse now. He puts a fuse in under the hood and just as soon as he uses the brakes it blows the fuse. I believe the same with the turn signals. The runnining lights and head lights are the only lights that stay on.

it sounds like the brake light wiring circuit has a short....the brake lights and rear turn signal use the same circuit
