No brakes or steering -

Heading to work this morning, start to pull out of the driveway and found I had no brakes or steering.
Brake pedal was up, just hard, like no power assist, same for the steering, like the power steering pump went out.
I’ve heard something about a vacuum pump on these Cummins, but I’m pretty new to this, and don’t know anything about it, or even where it is.
Think that’s the problem ?

Thanks for any advice.

On your 99 it will be the hydroboost. it's located behind the mastercylinder fluid reservoir. You don't even have to bleed the brakes after changing it out. Your local Oreilly store should have one or whoever you use for autoparts.

Yeah its something to do with the hydroboost. My brakes and steering went out and there was a huge puddle of power steering fluid on the floor. Turned out to be a power steering hose leaking.

Luckily when my hydroboost went it leaked out into the fender area instead of in the cab.

Thanks people -
Took at quick look at lunch, small puddle of hydraulic fluid under the truck where the PS pump is, either blew a hose or the PS pump is pushing fluid out at the fill cap ???
I'll figure it out after work.

Thanks

Well, didn't blow a hose after all, appears that it did push fluid out the filler cap on the PS reservoir, and the reservoir is overfull now ... so I guess it's the boaster - just trying to confirm ....
Can buy this part in this little town, will have to order, or drive 60+ miles.

Thanks All,

Mark
