What he said -- sorry but if it's a new truck i'm not touching anything. That's what you have a warranty for. Just be patient and document everything. Try another dealer if you don't get it resolved. good luck!

If the 3rd brake light works then it sounds like a wiring issue under the truck. I'm sure all the brake lights are on the same circuit.....

Although it's warranty I understand you being concerned about it as a safety issue, no fun getting rear ended because someone didn't see you stopping.

Now, I would look for the harness going from the ccab to the rear of the truck, with the can bus you have it will be smaller bundle of wires would be my guess, now follow the harness and look for a plug or some type of connection. My guess is that somethign is loose or almost unpluged. Start at the front and follow to the rear. If you do not find it that way probably a relay or fuse in the power center. If it isn't obvious wait till tuesday and get to the dealer and let them worry about it.

Not to hijack into a legal/political dicsussion, just thought I'd comment: It is still the responsibility of the driver following you to maintain a MINUMUM safe distance to avoid an accident. This is the law in MOST states. Cannot say for all, though.

Having said that, the vehicle MUST still be maintained in proper working order. This is a loophole that some will use, in particular if the accident was at night!

Am I contradicting myself...yes and no...

3rd brake light is run straight from stop switch to light. The stop / turns in the bed are run from the TIPM. Sounds like the dealer is missing a problem and just getting you by until the problem happens again. Fix the cause, not the result! Probably a wiring problem. Does it happen only after towing a trailer? Have any other lighting installed ( aftermarket?) or anything else like remote start or something? Look at all the wiring for any rub throughs. Have a fifth wheel or gooseneck installed? They could have nicked a wire as well.
