Question Need instuctions on steering adjust.

Hello, I'm going to try to adjust my "bearing preload" in my steering box, as my truck is all over the road and the steering wheel will move about 2in in either direction before anything happens. When I got under the truck and had someone move the wheel there was a lot of side movement on the pitman arm. With that said i'm going to try to adjust the bearing preload "I think", but before I attempt I would like some advice. Thanks fellas.

I'll tell you what I remember from doing mine. Rotate your wheel from left to right counting the turn made then do it the other way to double check the amount of turns and divide in half, that will give your center point. Loosen the holding nut for the allen head screw. Turn allen head screw about a half a turn in, then tighten the hold nut.

You will have to rotate you wheel all the way to the right then to the left while driving to get it to set. So you might want to make the adjustment in a empty parking lot or side road.

If it doesn't improve you could try to give it another 1/4 turn, using above instructions again.

Hope my instruction don't sound too Good luck.

There are two adjustments, the last reply was one of them, the other was talked about on the above mentioned thread.
