To Much Oil
I just got my truck back from the Dealer having a new oil pan gasket put on and they overfilled the oil by at least a quart . Do I need to drain the oil and put the correct amount in? Or just go down the road.

not the first time its happened
i would think you could also go back to the dealer and make them do it...

As long as there's not so much oil that the crank whips around in the pan oil it will be fine. If the crank is in the oil it will be foamy on your dipstick right after running it.
I always use 12 qts on an oil change, a little overfull on the dipstick, beats having a quart left over in a gallon jug to just use 12 qts.

When I first got my truck, I got the oil changed at a grease monkey place and they overfilled it. I heard them say "12 quarts!" when they were putting the oil in. Well, it was pretty high on the dipstick and the oil pressure gauge was reading kind of high. So I called the dealership and they said that it holds 11 qts. (10 if you aren't changing the filter too) and that I should go back and have them drain some out. That's what I did and I now rest better.
I have used three gallons on a oil change from the time the truck was new. Never had a problem. With my heavy towing, the oil capacity is too small so I tried it and it went well. It is only one quart over, no real problem.
