Loose Battery Cable!
Loose Battery Cable!
So, I finally get the brake light issue resolved and take the truck out for a test drive. All the issues (converter jumping in and out and the cruise not working) are all GONE!
Well I come to the last stop sign before getting back to my house and hear a rattle, and it's not one I thought I should be hearing. After getting the truck in the driveway I shut it down and pop the hood. There on the inner fender lays the cable coming from the passenger side battery!
The end isn't corroded or broken, it just looks like it was undone or a nut vibrated loose. Where does this thing reconnect to? I'm assuming it goes right to the positive terminal on the other battery but I don't want to hook it up without checking...

From reading your other posts you have a 96? If so, the positive battery cable runs along the top side of the radiator to the drivers side, so if you have a short cable hanging down on the fender I think it must be the negative?
Can't remember for sure where that one goes to. If I get a chance, I'll pop the hood on mine after work if you haven't gotten it figured out.

Ive got a '94, should be the same setup tho. I Googled the snot outta 12V engine pics and finally found some that helped. I went ahead and hooked the loose cable (the positive crossover cable, the one coming over from the passenger side) back onto the driver's side positive terminal. It hasn't blown up yet but a confirmation that it is correct would be nice. Thanks in advance...
Theres only two places to hook a battery cable on a battery. Positive or negative. If one spot is taken, it goes on the other one. You should have the negative cable going to the motor block, and the positive one goes across the radiator to the positive on the other battery. The batteries are marked + or - meaning positive+ or negative-. If you hooked it up and didn't get welding type sparks, you're OK.
I knew that much I just wanted to make sure the positive coming across the radiator went to the driver side batt and not the starter, a fuse block or something else like that. Thanks for the help guys...
