How bad did I mess this thing up?

I put in a new turbo - garrett 3788 stg 3 and turned up my smarty to lvl 9. I'd only previously run it on lvl 3 with the stock turbo and 90 hp injectors. I towed a 7k trailer all the way to NY with no issues. Now I'm getting what seems like a low fuel condition. I have black smoke then white smoke then a popping noise (and flames) out the exhaust. The truck falls right on it's face then takes time to come back. This now happens back at lvl 3 also. I capped the fuel rail relief valve but still the same thing. I don't have a rail pressure gauge but I have on on the Walbro pump. I'm out of suggestions. I have an arson 2 kit on it.

I'm supposed to leave NY for VA on Sunday.

Sounds like you are over fueling a cylinder or two. Check your oil for any signs of fuel contamination.

I checked the oil and it was just changed. There is no sign of fuel in it.

Keep an eye on the oil level. If you have an injector leaking out of the body the oil level will go up. Try the key trick and see if you have any codes.

Sounds like your rail pressure is way down. You either lost an injector, or your not getting any fuel to the cp3. A bad injector would alow alot of lost RP, so thats where to look first.

I have the smarty to check codes so I'll start there. The truck starts and runs fine. Under heavy acceleration it falls out. It doesn't skip or miss. Any tips on looking for a bad injector?

^^^^Contradictory to your first post. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

White smoke, popping and flames out the exhaust is a unburned fuel build up in the exhaust.

So it could be the injector's going bad? Is there a way to test that?

I read the code. It's P0234 Turbocharger Overboost Condition. This is an early 04 and I have the wastegate on the smarty turned off. With the smarty off it runs fine. With the box on it will turn off the fuel.

There are a couple of ways to do this:

1. Easiest, injector kill test with a starscan.
2. Cap the rail one injector at a time.
3. Take off the valve cover and remove the wires from one injector at a time. Yes you can run the truck without the valve cover on.
