Help Squealing Noise and Low Coolant Temp
I ran into a gas station last night and heard a squealing noise coming from under the hood. Popped the hood, and the noise seemed to be coming from around the CP3 pump and power steering pump but couldnt be sure. Sounded like a bearing going out. When I got home, I noticed the coolant temp was not up to normal, it was a little lower like the engine was still warming up, then it actually dropped a little while I was waiting for it to warm up. So I got out the mechanics stethoscope to listen for the squeal but it had quite.
Two other problems that may be unrelated. I noticed quite a bit of oil that has leaked from around the valve cover since I added some oil last week. I have attached a picture of this. I had a professional shop put injectors in back in March, about 10,000 miles ago, but not leaks until now. This is quite a bit of oil so I am concerned. Also the drive belt has some damage on one edge, if you watch it from above you can see the front edge wobble as the damage passes by.
Engine has 113,200 miles, never changed the coolant. I also just got back from 900 miles at freeway speed (2100-2500 rpm's). I have the Amsoil bypass which returns filtered oil thru the oil fill cap right onto/into the valves/valve cover. Could there have been a "puddle", or excessive oil in there from extended higher rpm operation that cause oil to seep through the seal?

Ok, pulled black plastic cover over valve cover and I think maybe my crankcase breather on top of the valve cover but under the black plastic is clogged and caused air pressure to build and oil to seep from around the oil fill cap, the engine slopes to the rear so that would explain how the trail starts from the fill cap, widens around the breather box, and widens at the rear of valve cover and spews over sides and down by exhaust. I think . . ., ?
I think I'd be finding out if the crankcase breather is obstructed or not...
Also, how cold was it when you noticed the thing not getting up to temp? If it is cold enough out, the engine temp can actually drop from the normal range while idling, unless you are running an exhaust brake.
Not sure about the squealing noise, but I think if it were mine I'd pull the belt so I could turn the various pullies by hand to see if anything (power steering pump, idler, water pump) turns rough, or is sloppy...

How old is your serpentine belt? I would say to get that replaced if it is more than a couple years old or if there is any cracking going on on it. When they get damaged like you were saying, it can cause the belt to start slipping, which could very possibly be the cause of your squeal.
Alright, just bought a crankcase breather filter from Mopar for $81, think that will take care of the oil leaking from the fill cap.
The temp was 25 degrees Far. outside, so I'll bet that that just idling was cooling it off and caused the gauge to drop, I am getting ready to pull the belt and replace it right now. I'll check play in all accessories, I'll bet that cause the belt is missing an 1/8 on an inch on the inside that is the culprit and causing the belt to slip.

Ok just checked all pulleys and the power steering pulley has end to end play, about 1/8 inch or so is about what I can move the pulley in and out. So I take it the pump bearing are going bad? Would this explain why one side of the belt has started to fray, if the belt mad contact with the edge of the pulley?
Also, took crankcase breather off, and blew into tubing and there is no restriction at all, so any ideas why oil dribled from filler hole and across valve cover?
I had the compression checked when they did the injectors, and they said it ranged from 290 to 320.

Check your belt tensioner when they get worn the belt does not ride in the center of the pulley it rides offtrack towards the engine and hits the tensioner arm which then eats the edge of the belt.
Well I went to purchase a new power steering pump, and the new one has in and out shaft play just like the one that's on there. So, I'm sure my pump is fine, I'll slap the new belt on there and keep an eye on it. As far as the seeping oil around the oil fill cap, any ideas? I blew some air thru the crankcase filter and no obstruction at all.
About the oil, could you have spilled some on not gotten the fill cap tight? If the breather is free and clear then there is no real reason for it to have built pressure and pushed out.
Clean it really well, leave the plastic cover off and watch it close to see.

Yeah guess I am going to have to clean the valve cover off, leave the plastic cover off and see what is going on. If I had spilled topping off my oil, then the runoff would not have been black. I did add oil right before my trip, and it is still a little above the full line, guess I added too much. Hopefully the oil wasnt foaming the whole time and had something to do with the leak? No to the valve cover gasket, the oil originated from the oil fill cap, and forms a trail from there across the valve cover, and down the side. So probably something as stupid as I didnt hand tighten the fill cap enough before my road trip.
