Help!! no brakes no power steering
so I put in a rebuild and all new hoses, nothing.
I have to suspect that the vac pump is not turning the powersteering pump. In fact the dogs on the old pump were worn down, but the disc which engages the vac dogs and power steering pump dogs looked good, so I went with it. Incidentally I have good vac.
It seems either
1 the vac pump shaft moved forward toward the timing cover or
2 the pin for either the vac pump dog or the vac pump gear engaging the cam sheared
Has anyone run into this before??

Freddie B, Tell us a little bit about the truck that you're working on so that we can help you more intelligently (year, model, 2/4wd, trans., mods, etc.). If you go to the User CP section, you can fill in your signature and then you won't have to tell us every time. Also fill in your location. Occasionally there may be another member close by that can lend a hand.

When I lost my steering and brakes, friend of mine who is a Dodge mechanic by trade, said he has seen more than one vacuum shaft broken right where the dog fits the shaft.
(luckly mine was only the PS pump.)
