Help with buddy's 03

His 03 will not go above 2100 rpms. if it does, it's like a governor kicks in and takes it back to about 1000 rpms. what is his problem? the truck is a auto with 127k on it. nobody seems to know why it is doing this and the truck is completely stock. The fuel filter has already been changed with no luck.

What codes do you get when doing the key [on off on off on] this should show codes in the odo display.

Possible it still has that really good lift pump attached to the back of the fuel filter canister? (if it's gone it's been retrofitted and thats a good thing). Other than air/fuel next I would want to see what my handy DRB would tell me.

Check the AIT sensor, I think that is what it is. The one on the intake tube just after the air box. It is one of the few sensors that do not always throw codes when messed up or unplugged and can cause simular problems.

Possible boost sensor, need to check with scanner, throttle position sensor, also check brake switch. If brake switch stays on while accelerating computer will shutdown throttle input. Computer thinks throttle is stuck open, this happens with left footed brakers.
