headlights cutting on and off..

A few months back my lights started to act up no lights worked so in order to drive i threw on the 4 ways and held the multi function rod (turn sig stick) back to keep my highbeams on. This didn't happen all the time just occasionally. Well the problem got worse so i did some research and replaced the dimmer/headlamp switch on the dash. Okay problem solved, so i thought. Here a few months later sorta the same issue but a little different. This time EVERY LIGHT works but after id say 15-20 min of lights being on the headlights flicker on and off. So i go to autozone buy a new multi-function switch hoping to solve the problem $43 later still problem not resolved. So i buy new bulbs today hoping that will fix the issue, $10 later still flickering lights. I've pulled apart the colum 3x checked for loose connections and come up empty handed. So here i am driving home having people in front of me pulling over since it looks like im running wig wags and i passed a state cop tonight and was just waiting for him to turn around and pull me over so i gotta get this fixed as its very unsafe for me and others. Anyone know where to start? I've researched this forum as well as others and this seems to be a common problem, problem is alot of remedies I've already used; headlamp switch,multi-switch & bulbs. I've toyed with the colum tilting it what not flickering all switches when the problem occurs and none seem to be a "temp fix" for my problem.

Thanks,

Garrett

A flicker bulb mean intermitent power. Onl;y when bulb never lights is when you change them.

I beleive your proble is just that, intermitent connection. Start at the fixtures and trace the wires. Stinks, but it's the best way. You'll most likely find a gound somewhere loose or corodded. You can then probably put the original switch back in.

Yes sorry for not adding but it is a 95 2500 ctd. I believe it was a white/purple that was the power source for the headlamps up near the multifunction switch. Also when i flick back on my multi switch to activate my highbeams my windshield wipers will wipe once. Not always does it do this though. In additon when i have my wipers on if i imediatly turn them off sometimes they will stop wherever they are instead of returning to the resting postition as they should. Im not much of an electrical guru but might give the schematic a peak tomm. and do as advised.

thanks
