Question Headlight Issue

Currently having a problem with headlights dimming and flickering. Am trying to pull headlight assembly to check all connections. Followed directions in Dodge manual, but headlight assembly will not pull out as described. Hesitate to just pull on it until it gives. Is there a trick to this? I've removed the spread clip, removed the three bolts, and loosened the two star tipped rods that appear to hold the assembly into the plugs.

All the connections are reached from the back of the unit, and you do not remove the entire assembly. Just pull the bulb covers and holders from the back, just like you would change a bulb, and all your hot and ground lugs will be exposed when you remove the bulbs.

I went back and looked again. There is no way to get to the back of the headlight assembly to remove the bulbs or check the connections without removing the assembly. According to the manual, you remove a couple of retaining clips, remove three bolts, and then loosen two rods that appear to tight the assembly into connectors. The manual then shows the assembly being pulled forward so you can reach the bulbs.

You can get to all of the bulbs from the back, I think, unless things changed in 03.
