i need a fuel screen that goes on the bottom of the sending unit module .

dealer sayes not avaliable seperatly , $400.00 for new unit.

my unit is good !!!!!

the screen has holes and i dont have a pre heater with a screen eather , gone when i got the truck !

where can i get this part ?

Gotta keep looking on EBay. I see fuel pick-ups on there time to time. Or check out wrecking yards. Just some ideas............

 

I bought a tank screen for a '98 several years ago for less than $20 from the dealer, they even had it in stock. Unless things have changed my bet is it's still availible, try another dealer. Many dealers swear up and down the sending unit isn't availible separately also, this isn't true either.

the only screen i can find from dealer is for the preheater strainer not for in the tank unit ??

 

If it's 400 beans for a new unit, can't you install a filter in the fuel line to get the same protection?

 

Just went thru the same thing....dealer said you had to buy the whole fuel module (just to get the screen) and the new fuel module had a fuel pump on it for in tank.........I just bought a FASS pump and did NOT want a pump in tank (pump wasn't in tank to begin with!!!) Went on forums and majority of responses said to forget the new screen, there is a prefilter before the fuel pump and the regular fuel filter before fuel gets to VP44. Hope this helps some!! 24 valve engines do NOT have a prefilter before the pump, that screen is the pre-lift pump filter.

Get the screen or fab something up to replace it.

The OP with his 12 valve engine, does have an additional screen filter in the system.
