Fuel Filter,Pump or Engine?
Fuel Filter,Pump or Engine?
I have a couple of problems going on that is driving me crazy.
No1. = When starting it first thing in the morning it "Searches" when idling about +/- 50 RPM. Once I drive it for a mile or so and put it in Park it idles just fine?
No.2 = I drive it to work (about 8 miles), Park it for the day and when I get ready to leave it starts fine and seems OK on cloudy or cold days but if it's been in the sun it still starts fine but when I go to pull out into traffic it will barely get out of it's own way. No response to any throttle movement at all. After a 10-20 seconds it will gradually begin to run fine. Today I tried something a little different. I started it and let it idle for 20-30 seconds and then just gradually stepped on the throttle. The RPM maxed out at 1800 with the throttle all the way to the floor and lasted about 20 seconds before beginning to run the RPM's up. I also noted a lot of "White smoke" until the rpm's began to come up.
I'm having the fuel filter changed in the morning but it was changed about 5000 miles ago. Could it be just water in the fuel? Should I be adding any additives to the fuel from time to time?
No.3 = It's a 2001 and I only have 52,000 miles on the truck and the drivers door is already rotting away at the bottom. I showed it to the dealer and he says the warranty will only cover it if it has holes in it. The outside of the door panel at the bottom wraps around the inside panel for about 1/2-3/4" and is gone in the middle. The dealer even broke another piece off when he was inspecting it? What's the deal with the 5 year 100,000 mile corrosion protection?
Any idea's would be great. Thanks

Tough question......
The white smoke "could" be a tell-tell sign of injector pump problems. But then again, it could be a lift pump problem. Since your still in warrenty, I would let the dealer check them.
Rust? We don't seem to have that problem down here. That is unless you drive it on the beach a lot. I would sure press the dealer on the corrosion clause of the warrenty.
