Front Axle Seal ?

Front Axle Seal ?
Does anyone have first hand experience with the inner axle seals on an 05´ 2500 Ram with the AAM 9.25?
I found a used replacement inner axle shaft, but it has a discolored spot where the seal sits that doesn't feel perfectly smooth. I was told that the seals actually grip the axle and spin "inside themselves", so it doesn't matter
. The only axle seals i've seen grip the axle tube and the shaft spins inside the seal. I want to make sure before i put the new shaft in so i don't trash the $eal!!!!!!

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
A small grove will be O'K in all probability. Try cleaning the area with a SCOTCH BRITE green pad, not sandpaper. Look at replacement seal and you can tell what slips on seal. Understand one side is easy, the other more difficult. Get a FSM for tips and understanding. Good Luck
