Control Arm Bushings

As I said in the Maids' thread, I had a good old fashioned DW, Again.

Next on the list to throw money at is the control arm bushings. They should be in Monday morning, and that is my day off. I've never changed them before. Any hints? Can I get it done without a shop press? Any good how-to's will be appreciated.

It's on the 98 4x4.

Thanks,

Ed

When i did mine we used a vice to press the old ones out since they were rubber now the new ones they were poly. ones so if you use the lube thats included with them they went in with a slight tap of a hammer..you COULD burn them stockers out but thats a **** mess and its not healthy to breathe that **** in either...

hope this helps..

Guess I'll try the vice first. I'm thinking that I will take one off at a time and see how it goes.

New ones are poly.

Thanks.

Use a large socket or pipe nipple (or coupling) and the vise to press them out or in.
