Check Engine Light
2003 2500 6spd 2wd 16000 miles and counting
Removed the stock air box today to drill some holes in it.
Also I think that the silencer ring fell out??????
Decided to start the truck to see what the turbo looked like while running.
Looked pretty cool.
Now I have a check engine light that will not go away after start up.
Truck runs fine.
Pulled the - battery cables for about 20 minutes then reconnected and started, light still on.
Is there a way to "reset" the light? Will it go off by itself after some driving?
Am I in trouble?

Sorry to say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but you're going to jail now for tampering with your truck.
I'm not sure, but if you turn your key off and on three times real quick your odometer will show any error codes you might have. It's probably no big deal and will go away after a certain number of restarts if there is no longer a problem.
Here is an example:
I believe there is also a TSB that has been mentioned for "Check Engine Light" malfunctions on the newer trucks.
Click on the
at the top of the page and do a search on words like codes, check engine light, pulling codes and you should come up with some reading material to keep you busy. You can narrow it down by searching just the 3rd Gen forums also.
BTW,,,,,, You don't lift up the lawn mower to see the blades go around when you are working on that do ya?
Let us know what you find out.

I had some codes come up associated with the intake sensor after installing my Edge EZ. I think they came up when I started my truck with the intake sensor disconnected. The codes cleared after a few weeks. I have read that the codes will clear after 40 start/cool down cycles, assuming the problem has been corrected and the check engine light is not lit. I tried twice to clear the codes by leaving the batteries disconnected overnight with the key on and had no luck. Give it a few weeks and check them again.

My truck has the airbox modified now and the silencer ring out. Mine threw a check engine light and p-0191 code when I tried to start it one day, and I don't think it was related to the airbox.
When I searched the codes, I found that the truck should turn the light off after a number of start/shutdown cycles. I couldn't wait for that and disconnected both batteries, turned the key and headlamp switch on, after the batteries were disconnected, for about 15 minutes. Turned the key and headlamps off, and reconnected the batteries. CEL was off and hasn't been on since.

When I was installing my boost gauge, I forgot to plug in the connector on the manifold, LIGHT ON!! Called my buddy at DCX, he said unplug the two connectors on the ECM on the side of the engine, leave for ten seconds and re-install, this worked the light went away. Just my 2c's
