ball joint install

I'm wrenching on my '96...anyone have any tips for putting new ball joints back in the spindles? I can't get a straight load in the hydraulic press and hammering on a socket is not working well(BFH and air hammer).

any tips other than taking it into a shop?(which I'm not really opposed to, don't want to waste much more time).

Most of the the big parts store Advance, Auto Zone will rent you or let you borrow a ball joint press. That's what I used.

I've put three sets in with a hydraulic press so it can be done. It has been awhile since I did one though so I can't remember how I rigged it. If you could post some pics of your situation I would be more than happy to help.
