Auto trans. will not come out of Park

I parked my truck on a slight incline and set the parking brake as I always do. Go to jump back in to leave and when I went for reverse the lever was solid. I turned the wheel a couple of times and nothing. Got a little upset and used a little force and once it came out the dash still read P. I called a buddy and used his truck to push and make sure that the drive train didn't have tension. With him in the truck I crawled under and thought that the cable broke and that I could put the truck in gear manually. The cable connected to the lever is moving it back and forth but not going into gear. The truck is currently sitting in front of a clients house and I need to do something with it. Any thoughts???

Sounds to me like your truck is not going to move until a wrecker comes out to take her to the local Dodge Dealer. I had this same thing happen to me with my first 06. The linkage from the lever to the tranny is gone and with it reg-in park, well it is in park. You will have to place the Manual Gear box in Neutral and have the wrecker tow you backwards (If 4X4)....... Good Luck!

The idea for a buddy to come and apply pressure to the truck so that the park engagement pin was not under to much pressure was a little late in the process- - - - -!!!

The drive train wasn't on a bind at first with the park brake on. The whole process was about 20 minutes and I tried many of times before I let the brake off. I had my foot on the brake and tried a couple of times before I let it drift all the way back. Thats when I got frustrated and used more force. After that it was all the way back and thats when I called for help. Still a little late in the game, I should have moved it manually before I let the brake off but I didn't want to run myself over. I did put the transfer case in neutral to at least get it out of his drive way. Any guesses on how much $$$ I'll be in for?
