2500 tranny bands
Just attempting bands on 47RE tranny 72in.lbs stated in specs but cannot reach this before adjuster screw passes through locknut any thoughts

Sounds quite strange, maybe the band is quite worn.
As long as it doesn't pass through the case I would simply ignore the locknut for the moment, tighten it, back off the prescribed amount and then install the locknut.
