1999 2500 Diesel runs away or doesn't start
My 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 two wheel drive diesel either won't start on redlines. I have replaced the throttle body sensor and it was ok for a week. When I discount battery, it is ok for awhile again. There are no error codes. Couldthe ECM be bad?

probably wont help but....check where the throttle cable goes into the APPS/TPS make sure that the grommet is seated in the hole and not cockeyed in there. i had one come in at the shop one time, wouldnt start unless you have it a little pedal and then once she lit off it was was wide open. pulled on the cable to seat it in the hole properly and all was fine.
like i said, probably not the problem here, but its a quick fix it it is.

Throttle
We checked the throttle and replaced the throttle body sensor. The only thing that helps is to disconnect the battery and it is ok for awhile. We yhink it is something electrical or electronic.

If you are not getting any error codes it is likely the injection pump's built-in processor has failed or you have corroded electrical connectors between the pump and the ECM. When the ECM or PCM goes they pump inconsistent error codes all over the place.
Ecm
The pump and throttle body sensor have been replaced. After looking around and finding the ECM, we found an after market module from DTT plugged into the ECM. It appears the people who owned the truck before us do a lot of towing and added this module. We unplugged the module and now we'll see if that does it or if the problem returns.
