1999 1ton dodge cummins trans problem

hi, have a 1999 dodge 1ton 4x4,wont shift automaticly from 1st gear, but shifts 2nd to od fine, any thing i can do to fix this? dealer says it needs a new trans.!

I would start with the fluid. Does it need to be changed? Beyond that, I am not much help on the autos.

I would try checking the TVC cable. WIll the trans shift out of 1st if you lift foot?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick

Like the dealer says, it needs a new or reconditioned tranny and get the pain over with. Good time to spring for upgraded converter and VB.
