used truck

new guy here, new to diesel as well. not sure if this posting is where its supposed to be. anyway, when shopping for a used cummins over the course of the next year or so, what specifics should I be looking at? im quite new to diesel, and lack a good diesel mechanic in the area. want a used, not abused truck. i have decided against the psd, i want the newer ram (2004) with quad seats. so time is on my side as far as looking around.

thanks

Might be able to find a 2003 that was traded up for the "600".

Won't be that much less than a new one for a couple years though.

With interest rates so low, I would consider a new one. You can get one with a warranty for close to what they will want for a used one.

Always amazes me how much they want for the used vehicles, I have seen them on lots, asking about the same as they went for new 2 years earlier

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. The wife wants me to get a new one, and keep it for 10 years or so, so new probably is the way to go.
really enjoy this site!

That's what I'm going to do. I know some of the members here have traded in 03's, even 01's & 02's, but they're not any where around me.
