Is there any difference in diesel fuels?
Think it came down to in the 70's NJ considered that the general public was to stupid to pump their own....
But reallyI heard said it was because gas and its byproducts are toxic and dangerous so only those 18 yr old highly trained minimun wage guys should pump the gas

Yup same price at the pump....Was in Sussex NJ and got fuel a few weeks ago at a Valero station that had both Auto diesel Island and a truck Island . The truck Island was self serve -first time I have seen that in NJ ,BUT the price was the same as the full service But they had the fast fill pumps.
quick question, off topic why can't you pump your own gas in NJ?

A hanful of places here let you pump your own diesel for some reason, perhaps the "class xx flammables rule" stated above. When it comes to gasoline, it is a big no-no to pump your own. Some people really get after you for it too (been there done that...) It does make for a good show when some of these late teen fools drive out of state and have to pump their own. I have been baffled by a pump or two in my life, but these people just stand there lost hahaha
Springer, you must be talking about the Valero on the Port Jervis side of High point mountain, that is actually Montague. Surprisingly, for being right off of Rt. 84, they tend to have rather competitive prices in comparison to places 20 minutes south on 23.
The one station that I frequent (also in Montague) has two sides of the pump, one for large cars and one for pickups, little guys. Noticable difference I caught was pump speed, large car side pumps much quicker, and when it kicks off, it would always spit diesel out of the filler neck pas the pump handle. Never used that one since

The only time in NJ I pump gas is when I'm the bike - Most attendants dont even come over when your on the bike
I was back Eugene OR last year and they gave me Heck when I wanted to pump my own fuel. I had forgotten that they can be fined up to $10,000 if they are caught letting you pump your own fuel. I had forgotten about that law even thou I had lived their between 1986 and 2005.
I have been told there is still some LSD at truck stops in the South, versus ULSD. Trucker said he gets about 6 mpg on LSD and only 5.5 or so on ULSD. Many on the site confirm ULSD gives less mileage.
I suspect USLD will be all there is after awhile.
Anyone still finding LSD? I founf some at Walmart in Port lavaca, TX.
Is Canada USLD?

In my neck of the woods, most of the fuel generally comes from the same place for almost all the stations, but there is something very different between Co-op and Fas gas fuels, the sprinter I drove had a measurable mileage drop on Co-op diesel, about 100 km/tank.
For gasoline, the "discount" stations premium was better than all the name brand performance, I an 20 psi in my car on cheapo premium, but would encounter knock with the ethanol blended higher oct premiums.

I am pretty much the same way Chris, if the attendant comes over to help me I just try to ignore them and brush past them to the tank. They usually get the point when I ignore them and start mixing up 2 stroke and PS in the back seat while they stand there lol
