I don't know for sure but I would think that Sterling dealers would have more replacement parts in stock meaning quicker turn around times on repairs and warranty work. That is usually the case with commercial truck dealers versus ordinary dealers that mainly service grocery getters and basically couldn't care less how fast you get your truck back. I would buy a sterling over a dodge just for this reason.

I know it's a 3500 compared to a 4500, but I saw a loaded 4500 Sterling at the Fair listed at $60,000...loaded 3500 Dodge can be had at $37,500...take that extra money and spend it elsewhere, minus the gooseneck the Sterling already had in it, couple thousand for an upgraded torque converter and valve bodies and do some airbags and the Dodge will even OUTPULL the Sterling since it comes with the de-rated 6.7

I think Brakes would be my main reason for stepping up to a 4500 or sterling.

Actually, the 6.7 is actually detuned for both of them in the cab and chassis version...the Sterling 4500 is a cab and chassis with a bed option...the 3500 Dodge pickup truck is not detuned..
