I wonder too. I use the Scantool brand. I downloaded the program for about $300 and they sent me the USB to OBD II cable. With the add-on module for CTD's it's awesome. But... I can't adjust anything in the ECM. I can't adjust for tires or gears, etc. I can clear codes and find out all kinds of crap though. Good troubleshooter.
A little too expensive for what its' limitations are.

thanks for the response. I would sure like to know why my first thread was deleted I don`t see what I said would be a problem.I found one also but it has the same limitations as the one you have but it is about $200 more than the one you have. I am looking for a pc-based scan tool program that doesnt have those limitations.
I have a program for VW`s that can do everything but flash the pcm. I dont need to flash the pcm so that doesnt bother me. But to get a program that lets you look at everything but not be able to change things is a waste . I would still need to take it to a dealer to correct something. With the program for VW`s I can change egr function, timing, horn, tires, ect. Does any one out there have or know of such a tool other than the $6000 factory scan tool.

The first one looked like an ad for the scanner product. The way you listed the webpage and the price, it looked like you were trying to sell them.

I don`t even own that program. I was trying to find out if someone here had one or some other program for the DC. How can you discuss something if people don`t know what it is or the cost of it. If we cant mention brand names or costs in a thread then there isn`t much need to discuss it. The point of the thread that was deleted was to try to get a scan tool forum going so that we have a resource that we can use to be able to keep doing our oun work an our trucks. That oportunity is being taken away from us because we are not able to have the access to the computer controled functions.

Very simple, for one third the energy you used here in your rant, you could make a post that DOESN'T look like an ad.

I didn't remove your earlier thread, I don't know which Admin did. I just know that when I went in and looked at it, it appeared you were trying to sell the product, which led me to believe that was most likely why it was pulled.

Just a humble user here, why not try a similar thread that looks less like an ad?

And I don't see a scan tool forum any time soon, Jack & Larry don't like a million sub forums, and I am glad, keeps things clean looking, and gives the various posts more exposure.

Autoenginuity pcware scantool has generic OBD2 plus all the DCX Enhanced functions of the DRBIII, with modules for GM, Ford, and all the Euro and oriental systems - has rail pressure, timing, flowrates, everything, at autoenginuitydotcom

Carcode has similar, but not nearly as polished as the AE stuff at obd-2dotcom.

I'm using the Autoenginuity Scan tool and the SpeedTracer program. Although you can't change anything in the ECM it still gives a lot of info if you want to speed even moremoney to buy the enhanced modules.

I talked to some one on another forum that has autoenginuity and the chrysler full expansion and he said that he can see all sensors and clear codes but it does not have enable/disable or change functions. If this is not correct tell me other programs we need.

I am really curious about this. If anyone knows of scantool software that will allow changes to be made in customer preferences, actuator tests, etc., please let me know.

I use the Snap-On MODIS, only cuz we have it at work, I'm not into buying one for 9 grand. It's basically a small laptop, Windows based. It's supposed to be able to do tons of stuff, but none of us have gotten too deep into it yet. All I've messed with is pullin codes, and it gives live parameters for the truck, supposedly it has the most updates per second of any of the scanners out there. Pretty cool though. Tells me absolutely everything that's goin on right down to if my intake warmers are on or not. You can turn off individual injectors, it has plugs in the back of it to test sensors, built in multimeter, all sorts of other junk too that I have no clue how to work. We also bought the heavy duty install for it too, so it can do semi's, as well as ABS systems on trailers.

cant find out for sure if you can change stuff with it, however, cummins has their own computer/reader called the quick check 5100. it is rather expensive though.

so does anyone know if the easily acquired Snap On scan tool will read the Cummins ECM on the ISB (98.5-2002) engine?
