RANT concerning Mega Cabs

I have been reading alot of different forums since I purchased a used 5th wheel....

I am using a gooseneck adapter on the king pin.

As I read through these forums, i am amazed at the ignorance of people not to do any research before they make a statement about a vehicle.

The statement I am refering to is that a MegaCab has a shorter bed that a QC 2500 shortbed or a CC 2500 shortbed...

This is completely wrong, and yet i see time and time again that people are making this statement.

I realize that due to the added length of the cab, the bed LOOKS shorter, but it's an optical illusion.... pull a tape measure on it and find out for yourself people.

Now that my rant is over...thank you for your time .

Wow, another El Pasoan!

I understand what you mean. I have talked to people and looking at my truck they ask "Do you mind having such a short bed?" and I just laugh and tell them "It's the same as yours, I just have a bigger cab than you!"

I once had a "Chebby Durasmackx" owner tell me my truck looked like a hearse, before I did all the mods!

it happened to me again this weekend. I was pulling my gooseneck stock trailer and stopped at the store. A guy tells me "i don't think i would pull a GN with that truck, The bed is too short"

He happened to be driving a Ford with a short bed and he had a trailer on it....

I asked him "You pull one with yours don't you?"

Him.. "Yeah."

Me... "It's the same size."

now... I will say that I have the B&W turnover ball and it does have the ball a little in front of the axel, so i can see where some think it may put the trailer too close to the cab...

My truck has a long bed. Only maybe three people have noticed or commented that its a Mega Cab Long Bed.

My only disappointment with a Mega Cab is the lower GCWR they put on them.
I went from 12,200 on my quad cab to 10,500 on this truck and it only weighed 400 pounds more then the quad.

Ever get the feeling someone is watching you?

I got the same thing from my brother. I had my buddy bring his quad cab short bed over and we sat back and made him measure every angle we could think of just to prove a point. HAHA! What makes it better is he has a Dmax and has hit the cab with our 5er. I never have..... Knock on wood.......

I have a topper on mine and I don't see the problem. But I do get that too about how small the box is. Dodge doesn't have enough money to make 55 different options like Frod or Chev. So if the short box didn't fit, the truck wouldn't have made it to production.

My buddies all want to ride in the back of my truck.

It is amazing how stupid people can be when it comes to things like bed size, eh? I have a friend who has a d-max with a short bed, he really made fun of my Dodge bed at first, then, we got into measuring, finally he realized that we had about the same size bed space, but when it came to overall towing power, he was the one who had the deficit . .

and btw, that was before I did some mods . . now, he is just flat out in my rear view mirror all the time.

Less fortunate . . LOL !!!! It just amazes me how people do not realize that so many things are what I would call a standard size, cab widths, bed lengths, frame widths, etc . . and so many people cannot see this stuff.
