Million Mile Club

I have 445,000 miles on my 92. My dad bought it new in 1992, and he recently passed it down to me. The Getrag went 430,000 before needing a rebuild, but only the 3rd gear synchronizer was starting to grind at that time. The injector pump is original, and the only thing my dad did was replace the "leaky o-ring" at about 2??,000 miles. The truck still gets 20 MPG or better and the valves have NEVER been adjusted and the timing has NEVER been bumped. Not only am I going for the million mile mark, but I'm going to drive this truck until the body falls off the chassis (if that even happens).

I purchased my truck new and I am at 240,300 miles. This truck has been really good to me. I am still on my original clutch. I do the routine maintenance; oil changes, lubrication, and brakes. I have replaced the batteries, tires, thermostat, water pump, AC compressor, ball joints and power steering pressure hose. I believe that about covers it. I have not touched the timing nor the valves. I guess I should do the valve adjustment some day.
I will be dead before I get 250,000 miles on my CTD.
Drove my CTD Dodge once this year during the springtime for about 460 miles averaging 16 mpg into a strong head wind pulling a 2k pound trailer loaded with 6k pounds of cargo. Diesel fuel is just too expensive to use this truck for anything other then pulling a load. My diesel pickup truck is paid off in full (0% down & 0% interest for three years), but I am now trying to keep expenses to a minimum in order to save up capital to buy for cash a more fuel efficient new car (35-60 mpg). Our 1998 V6 GMC 1500 pickup is doing our running around empty because it gives 26 mpg, but the cost for gasoline mounts up on long trips. That is why I want a new fuel efficient vehicle, plus the GMC is ten years old.
