I add a pint at every fill up. It lubricates and cleans the internals of the fuel system and helps reduce buildup in the combustion chamber.

I've read of several people whose fuel gauge went haywire after adding MMO.
No big deal since it seems to return to normal after you quit using MMO.

My fuel gage has never worked correctly. What are the chances MMO in the tank will make it work correctly?

It's mostly lighter fluid and mineral spirits with small amount of other things.

It's a mystery to me why anyone would put that into their Cummins.

You'd be so much better off using Stanadyne PF instead of MMO. This comes from a guy who's tried everything at one time or another.

I'm not a chemist...but I would say this. It can't be good for the Injection Pump while it may not be bad for it. I think the VP needs more lubrication with the ULSD fuel we run today. I'm not advocating that everyone do as I do, I have been running non synthetic 2 stroke oil for the last three tanks. If you look at how much less lubrication is in the new fuel (ULSD) I think "real lubrication" is needed. My truck has quieted down from the way it sounded running straight ULSD to the way it sounded before....still loud.

I don't see how mineral spirits and lighter fluid could do a better job of it.

I haven't read or heard of any ill effects (yet) from using 2 stroke oil. But like I said, I'm no expert on diesel fuel or additives, just applying a little common sense to the subject.

The only good thing I use Mineral Spirits for is cleaning greasy engine parts! I wouldn't want to know what that stuff would do to an engine.

Thanks

I've been using Marvel Mystery Oil combined with Stanadyne the last 4 tankfulls and the fuel gauge float in the tank has been getting stuck at the top. This has happened every time I've tried using MMO in the past. I crawl under the truck and bang on the tank with a 2X4 piece of wood to free it up and it works every time. Not sure if this is caused by the MMO or just a coincidence.
