Yes TCI is the controller we used, Also when you get a converter for it use a very low stall and put a bigger lockup valve in it, they are used when you do a lot of towing, and it will keep you from burning up converters. If you don't go with a low stall it and the bigger valve it will eat the converter up if you lay into it a lot and its hard not to,

Also i was wonder if you where going to straight axle the truck, I think its the only way it will hold up.

12V, that is a good looking truck! You're right about the 4L80, I on't know why GM went to the Allison, that 4L80 is just about bullet proof. The stock converter weighs 70# by itself!

The only problem we first had was eating up torque converters, I think we went through 2 before we put in a bigger lock-up valve, And that took care of it, and we are only running a stock converter. And now there are a few people out that can make you a triple band converter for the 4L80e. And the TCI controler works really well you will be amazed at what you can do with it.

I'm new to this site and am doing research on putting in a 94 12 valve in 92 chev 3500 with a 454 tbi and IFS. I'm wondering what intercooler to use, I know I need the GM nv4500 with cummins bellhousing,input,clutch,flywheel...Any help would be great

I have seen some people use a powerstroke intercooler, around a 98 model. On the last one we just finished we used the First Gen's intercooler on it, and it worked out pretty well.If you have any Questions feel free to ask.

I'd PM the guys in that forum and ask them to post. They probably will. They are probably just busy it being Christmas and all. You might also ask more specific questions. I put some engine sizes up in another Chev post.. You might just measure your engine bay.

Nothing wrong with this site, but us conversion guys would just like to keep it all on one site so it is easier to find.

Yeah, id say people are busy this time of year...i know we sure are. I'm not in a real big rush or nothin, just reasearchin to see how big of a mess i'm gettin myself into. I'm currently buildin a 72 chevy shortbed 2wd, and if i ever get this one done, if i just dont go out and buy me a 12v im wanting to do the conversion just to be different. Not decided what im gonna do with the truck just yet. Wouldnt mind for it to be a puller one day after i get out of tech school. Thanks for the help.

"I'm currently buildin a 72 chevy shortbed 2wd," <salivating...> Those are spiffy little trucks... nice and light... a 3rd gen 325/600 would be beautiful in that truck and geared right you'd get about 30 MPG. What would a truck like that weigh, about 4,000 lbs ?

If you put a diesel in it, make sure you soundproof it well.

I was actualy thinking about putting a 4bt in my shortbed...but ill probably just run a small block instead. Ill leave the cummins for the 72 4x4. I'm not sure about the weight. Ill have to look that up.

A LWB 68' with a BBC in it weighs around 3,950 lbs. So my guess would be with a SWB and a 4bt the weight couldnt be much over 200-300lbs more than 3,950. I know a 6bt weighs around 1100lbs, wonder what a 4bt would weigh?

If you want to see a 'Burb getting a Cummins check out this guys site:

http://www.devilscastle.net/

It's a little hard to follow. The pictures on the first page are the current pics. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see links for different dates. Start with the earliest and start at the bottom of each page and work your way up and you can see all the work he's put into getting that engine ready. Stickler for details.
