I think that the funny thing here is that most of us would watch it if we were there. I don't know why they decided to blow it up but once that was decided, why not watch? I would just hope that most people would do a better job of protecting themselves from any flying parts. It is very unlikely that any big parts would go parallel to the crank but shrapnel certainly can. One of the scariest situations you can ever be in is trying to shut down a runaway engine and wondering whether you will get it shut down before it throws something through you.

 

anyone else ever witness an old Silver 92 runaway?? i watched my neighbors runaway. the clutch and flywheel left the truck and ended in our barn over 100ft away

In typical Detroit fashion: lots of noise and smoke and not going anywhere. You guys are amazing what a bunch of sticks in the mud. What happened to "FUN"? If I want to blow the crap out of something I own and video tape it who's the victim? You guys act like if they had kept that engine running it would have saved someones life or something. Amazing I guess the average age here is 80, lighten up grandpa!
