I don't see it happening now that GM is headed for junk bond status. I always suspected Cerebrus to pawn them off to the highest bidder - but never imagined it would be GM. Would rather see Mitsubishi buying them. Remember Diamond Motors?

Cerebrus did not buy Chrysler, because they love mopar as the image they tried to project. they are a brutal investment company who saw an opportunity to make a killing.

i believe the only loyalty to chrysler comes from those that make them and those of us that own them. to everyone else they are a commidity and i don't believe they give a hoot as to what trans matches with what engine. none of the diesel drive trains are either dodge or gm.

i have been a mopar guy since i was 13 when i bought a '40 plymouth in 1959. I am 62 now. I have owned and driven more of them then i care to remember. to see a name tag that i have such an emotional attachment too go in this mannor leaves a feeling of being violated.

I know many hotshotters working Chevies and Dodges hard . Dodges have more breakdowns and longer waits for parts . Chevy dealers have parts in stock . Dodge dealers NEVER have parts in stock . Plan on waiting 2 to 4 days .

Ya I've seen so of those so called hot shot trucks, 60,000 miles on a fuel filter....Nothing is going to last chevy or dodge under those conditions.

Just owning a dually doesn't make one a hotshotter . The ones I know service their trucks regularly and get over 200,000 miles out of them. They are still going strong when traded .
The failures on Dodges I was talking about was wheel bearings , ABS sensors , things like that . Nothing to do with fuel . There are a lot of wheel bearing failures and Dodge never stocks them .

Not bashing Chevy, but it's funny how you see 4 hot-shot Dodges for every Chevy and Ford combined (and yes, I know how to spot them- easiest way is the placard stuck to a door or the bed). I'm guessing hotshotters prefer the Ram because of lower acquisition cost and legendary engine longevity. Plus all that low-end Cummins torque is kind'a addicting.

I really miss that when I dive my parent's D-max.

In texas i bet there are 6 or 7 Dodges for every 1 Ford or Chevy in the hotshot buisness... So I'm sure there are more Dodge breakdowns if there are 7 times as many on the road!

these are bad time for enthusiasts, before long i fear we will be forced into driving character-less econoboxes and the only full size trucks may be a Toyota or some weird version of what was an "American" truck. Jeep may survive again but I think Dodge and Chrysler are going to join Plymouth and AMC soon. Hold on to your rigs guys, think of your favorite 60s muscle car and we are now at the very end of that era....

A 3/4 ton toyota with a diesel could be sweet

Until then I'll hold my 98 till I find a good first gen to swap it out for

Or it just means in your area for whatever reason there are more dodges...?

I know where I live Powerstrokes outnumber dodges and GM's 10 to 1. I see the fewest dodges. By your logic that would mean the powerstroke is a great engine and the cummins is a bad engine, and we all know thats not the case.

It all depends on which dealer has the best deal at the time...

I heard it was the other way around today, that Chrysler wanted to buy GM! I think it would be a whole lot more fun to ask all those diehard bowtie guys how it feels to drive a "real" truck
