WOW!!! 700ft/lb those almost have as much torque as a 12v cummins with a #10 plate. those things are like $50,000' i think i would rather invest that money in my old dodge and have more power and reliability than a duramax will ever have

come on srt-6 version of dodge ram 2500/3500 quad cab short bed with 6speed slush [aisin] or stick nv-5600 witha short shifter with 385hp/750tq.. and up the rpm to 3800 governed while accelarating WOT

the qsb5.9 marine version of our isbe engines makes 385 i think for intermediate duty [>20% full throttle duty cycle]

i don't know about a bunch of you guys, the duramax is a contender. a simple 135 box on one will put down over 400 rwhp and the allison will stand that power. any more and it will kick into limp mode to keep it from slippin in 5th gear. but you need to fear one with a allison in a drag race. they will run 9's in the 8th no sweat. and they are a tough motor, i have seen many take some serious abuse and keep ticking. they had some injector problems in the 01's but chevy ponyed up like a man and covered the injectors to 200k. i wish dodge would have done that with the lift pumps and injector pumps on the second gens 24v's. as much as i am a cummins fan, the duramax is starting to prove itself very well.

Yep, I have yet to see one break in this part of the world.

And have only seen 1 Allison break, and that was behind a 8100 GASSER.
Have heard of the Transmission Computer going bad a couple different times though.

Those Duramax's will hang right in there with my Cummins, hauling the same load, up the same hill. The do burn a bit more fuel though , especially for something that doesn't smoke like mine

Since when was the allison a 6spd? That's a funny read. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I would never buy one. if I wanted a truck with 700TQ then all i would have to do is take the injectors off my truck, but 900 feels better

DM01, You're only at 884! How do you know what 900 feels like?

I HOPE to be at 800, so either way you know better than I do . Think I'm Close??

Ah is that how it works.

In that case, I was already at 1000hp and 1849 ft lb LAST year, I guess you guys missed it and I've lost the dyno sheet

My truck is like a computer, it was outdated LONG before I got it running the way I like it, and I've got WAY too much money in it to get rid of it now.

Good Luck DM01,
Chris

BTW, do you have a Valet Switch on that rig?

They can do what they want w/ a V-8 diesel...I still don't like how they sound, smell, taste, or feel. And besides, all you gotta do is look in any semi truck to see what style engine they have...most likely it'll be an I-6.

Looks like a perfectly good waste of money to me. All i need now is some DV's, and ill have over 700 torque easily. It might be a great grocery getter but thats about it .
