GM bankrupt?
In 2003 I wanted to buy a Buick Regal because it was a nice car and I have relatives that work at GM so I get a good price.
3 year 60000 Km warranty.
Bought a 2003 Subaru Legacy
5 year 100000 km warranty (built in Indiana}
In 2004 looked at a GMC pick up
3 year 60000 km warranty.
Bought a 2004 Dodge Cummins 2500 pick up.
7 year 115000 km drivetrain warranty.
160000 km Cummins warranty (built in Mexico}
The GM salesman stated that there was a $100 deductible on the Dodge warranty.
I asked how much a tranny rebuild would be on the GMC if it went at ,say, 70000 km....he said about 4 grand
I said that if the tranny on the Dodge went at 70000 km it would cost me $100.
The truth of the matter is that after the 60's GM has built more than their fair share of junk.
Decades of head gasket and intake manifold gasket problems..
brake problems..
tranny problems...etc
Ford and Chrysler too.
These companies refuse to see the light.
At least Dodge offers a decent warranty.
GM seems to have the same attitude the British car and motorcycle manufactures did back in the 60's
The were stuck in a time warp, produced nothing but junk and were left gutted by superior products from Japan(bikes} and at the time even the American cars were much better.
After decades of putting up with junk from the Big Three, how can you blame someone for wanting a better more reliable product?
I think it is too late for GM.
Unfortunately a lot of good folks are going to be out of work.
DC and Ford better get with the program, or they will go down too.
I have had many "American" cars and many "Japanese" cars and though not perfect, the "Japanese" cars were more reliable.
I am having some drivetrain problems with my Dodge that nobody seems to be able to fix.
If Toyota were to build a 3/4 ton diesel I would probably buy one.

They never said, or implied that they were HAPPY about this.
Our local GM plant is closing, and it will leave a lot of people out of work.
Gm use to build very good cars. I bought a new Grand Prix in 1990, and it was the best car I ever owned. We kept it for 12 years, and liked it so well, we traded it in for another Pontiac, which is a total piece of crap. We have had so many problems with it, I doubt we would ever buy another GM.
As for my CTD, we love it.
