I don't mess with refrigerator lines, myself; but, I have seen A/C lines and the like with Teflon tape wrapped around the threads, probably by someone with no more sense than me.

Just for curiousity's sake, what would be the outcome of using Teflon tape on refrigerant lines.

For just about anything with threads, you can use either the Permatex #2 or PST.

well you never can tell on the internet, But I'd of understood better if you said the National Pipe Threads on the other end of a hose barb

rather than
What is the correct thread-sealer for such things as hose-barbs
