I've been told that a diesel will burn just about anything. What about unleaded gas? Then we can use whatever is less expensive. I've not tried this and I don't encourage it but I had an Uncle that had an old diesel pickup in the 60's, he'd put leaded regular or diesel in it depending on what he had.

The diesel around these parts is not about 10-15 cents a gallon higher than regular unleaded.. but its SOOO worth it when I drive my truck.. I LOVE IT

Why don't you go ahead and try it, then when youre truck is at the dealer getting the motor replaced.. let us know how it worked out.

Man I thought I had it bad at $1.84 a gal. It jumped up to that from $1.69 and I thought that was high. It had been at 1.69 all sumer. It was at 1.69 sence the snow mellted. Gas all summer has been bouncing all over but never hit $2.00. I think it is now around $1.74. I hope you Kali people realy like your area to be paing those kind of prices.

I noticed it around Burbank in So Cal. Unleaded went down about 5 to 10 cents, diesel went up about 5 to 10 cents, if not more.

Hey Scott, too much caffeine this morning? Just retelling a story on an old diesel, not suggesting anyone try it.

I currently own a 2002 F250 with the 7.3 PSD. I am looking to purchase a 2005 Ram3500 cummins powered but I'm starting to wonder if I even need the diesel. I was leaning towards the Dodge because I don't have any confidence in the 6.0PSD but the V10 isn't a bad engine. My truck is currently 2 years old and only has 14,000miles on the clock. I tow a 11,000 5th wheel camper approx. 2,000 miles a year is that. What do you think?
No comment on the price of diesel fuel right now, but if you think you're paying a lot for fuel now I can GUARANTEE you that you would not be happy if you went with the Triton V-10 in a Ford. Trust me. I had one. Empty I got 11 mpg. It's a great engine, but it LOVES gas.

I think as more and more people start driving diesels then you're going to see the prices go higher and higher. Supply and demand.

it's pretty messed up that off-road diesel that my buddy uses in his tractors and equipment on his farm and my uncle uses in his boat is only $1.08 a gallon and then I go to the pump next to the off-road pump and mine cost $1.80......

It probably comes out of the same tank......

What's even worse is the home heating oil is largely the same thing, has NO road taxes on it, and is MORE expen$ive than Diesel fuel............

I believe it was stated here that some stations are jacking the price of diesel so they can sell unleaded gasoline cheaper.

The price change could be that the refineries are now focused on producing more gas then diesel; hence less diesel same demand higher price.

Still love getting 19mpg out of a 4x4 truck. Initial cost is high but if you drive a lot then the diesel makes sense, even if you don't tow much.

Here's an interesting link: http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp
