freightliner mt45
I've found a 2001 wrecked freightliner with a 5.9 and an automatic in it. Freightliner web sight says it is either a at545 or a at545n but I can't find any specs on this trans as to how much hp. one of these will take. Van has 51000 miles on it and can be bought real right! How hard is it to hook up computer in a engine swap? Thanks
The AT545 is built by Allison Trans. I hate to say it but this tranny is basically Allisons throwaway.
The max input power on a 545 is 235hp and max input tq is 445lb ft.
I believe the AT545N is the same tranny but with a neutral position that allows for "park brake" position on the shift selector.
One of the problems you will find if you plan on doing a swap on the ISB is that Freightliner uses a 100pin ECM opposed to Chryslers 50 pin version. With the left side of the ECM monitoring and sending outputs to the engine, and the right side sending output and receiving date from the OEM side.
However, this engine will have heavier components and a slightly different cam profile than the Dodge version.
