I'm sure you guys have watched the "Ice Road Truckers" episodes on the History Channel... It seemed like most of the regular pickups I saw on their were Dodge Diesels...

I think Toyota has the best quality 1/2 pick-up...parts are big...the rear axle is big...brakes are big...cab and box is big.....unfortunately the sticker price is big....If they had a fuel efficient diesel in that 1/2 ton I'd most likely get it...I truly respect toyota's quality...We have a 97 corolla and all we have done is brakes and oil EVER

I had an 82 Corolla, and brakes, oil and once the alternator was all I ever had to do for it. Unfortunately, its carburated engine had the gas mileage the same as my 3/4 ton truck.

Ya'll have been watching too many commercials for Toyota. I tested the Toyota Tundra axles at Dana, the only thing I liked about it was how quick it was to replace the 3rd member when it blew up...which didn't take long either. They do have a big ring gear, but they use Koyo bearings (inferior to the Timkens), which compared to the competition are small both in the diff and at the hubs. I won't even get into they're 2 piece aluminum driveshaft, 1/2 steel, 1/2 Aluminum, with swaged ends. It wasn't fun replacing all of the slip-yokes those suckers busted.

the diesel stop
i joined the diesel stop a couple months ago or so, i know, i know, but i have some of my family members that have power strokes, so ive been able to provide them with some good info, but also, its fun to read the posts and listen to the banter that comes out. especially hearing them talk about the mileage that the new 08's are getting!! pretty sad numbers amongst other things. it gets pretty lively over there. those guys get upright butt hurt when their trucks get "put down". oh well, i used to be one of those guys

2008 is a good year for diesel, lots of the manufactures are bringing more here. I work for BMW so I know whats coming but its not like its much of a secret. The X5 will be getting a 3.0L diesel, the 5 series will be available as a 535d and the 3 series will also be available as 335d.
