Fl60???

Anybody know anything about these trucks? My dad is looking at one nearby...the ad says: 2000 FL60, 225 cummins, 6-speed. What motor is that? 5.9? Heavy duty 6-speed? Anyone know what the tow ratings might be?? It has a 11ft. flatbed with gooseneck ball.

I work for freightliner but we used to build the FL60's ,but they were moved to our other plant now all we build is class 8. I think the cummins 225 is along the lines of the N14, as for the trans 6 speed do you know if it is an automatic? If it is an auto it is more than likely an Allison which is a very good trans, if its a standard its either a Eaton or Meritor, I personally prefer the Eaton. I am not sure on the actual towing weight but I don't believe you will have any towing anything you want to. I have seen them used for towing very large boats, or used as box trucks. I hope this helps, but its been a long time since I worked on one and I am sure some things may have changed. Just my .02

I have one for a work truck (see gallery). it is a 5.9 with an Allison 6 speed automatic. mine has 2 PTO's one for a air compressor and the other is for for the back hoe. It will run both of these with no problem.

The truck weighs 25K+. With the 6 speed it moves around pretty good once it is rolling over 5 mph or so.

Truck spends about 6 hours a day running with the PTO's at 1800 rpms and still runs good and the chassis is still in good shape. It is on its 3rd VP44 though.

I like it better than the fords with a CAT engine in them.
