dodge does it again

My neighbor called last night saying he had gotten his 2008 2500 6.0 4x4 stuck in his yard and was wanting me to come and pull him out with my truck(dodge 2003 2500 5.9 cummins 4x4) .He was trying to beat the rain and hail by pulling it under a barn. I thought I might get stuck as well with the added weight of a cummin engine.I hooked up a tow strap and began pulling slowly. I had to pull him out at an angle because of all the trees in his yard. I started pulling and could not believe how easily I pulled him out with his truck in neutral. He was buried up to his front axles and buried pretty good with the back tires as well. When he got out of his truck the first thing his wife told his was another dodge pulls out a chevy. Enough said. I didn`t want to ruin his chevy pride anymore than it already was. He couldn`t beleave I didn`t even slip a tire. I LOVE MY DODGE

Did something similar several years ago with my wifes Durango. A Chevy 4x4, a Ford 4x4 and a GMC tried to move a 34ft boat and trailer in tall grass and none could do anything with it. When I got there to see the boat, that needed some work, the owner asked if I could move it. I did not known. I hooked up to it, turned on the Traction Control, put it in 4 wheel low and 1st on the gear shift.

Never spun a tire. First time I ever used the 4x4 on the Durango.

Angry Not mine!

tpack, you must have a 4x4 or limited slip. I've gotten stuck so many times, I won't even drive on wet grass anymore.
I still keep long chains and a Come Along winch behind the seat, just in case. Pretty sad.

I once had to get my neighbor to pull me out with his Silverado - just wet grass, five feet from my own driveway!
Even my cousin's beat-up '84 Ford Tempo will run rings around it, once you're off pavement or dry ground.
It's the only the thing I actually hate about this truck. Other than that one thing, it's almost perfect.
I still can't believe Dodge ever sold these without limited slip as standard equipment...
How could they not know this can be a serious problem on a heavy-duty truck?
These aren't some little half-ton Cowboy Cadillacs that never do any work.

Rant officially over. Thank you for your patience.

I had the same problem when I had my 93 2wd. I once has to push it onto the drivway using my 79 chevy Luv 4x4 after a rain storm to get to work. That was the last straw, less than a year later I traded it for my 96 4x4 and haven't looked back.

If I was you I'd be buying a Detroit, or a ARB or some other kind of locker, heck I have been wanting one in my 4x4 just for extra insurance.

My 93 had the limited slip and it still would get stuck on wet grass spinning both back tires. I don't ever plan on owning another 2 wd cummins truck.

I've pulled out my forklift (yard lift) many times. Think it weighs near 10K. Best time was when it slid off into a ditch and was sitting on the frame. Cut some trenches for the rear tires on the lift and turned the wheels sideways so I wouldn't break anything and pulled that sucker out sideways. 4lo and in reverse. Nearly idled out.

Hardest was pulling out my cousin who ran off the road one night. Had to do it in 4 low on pavement and yank him some. He was stuck between 2 trees and really high centered. I made sure to get some speed so it would tear his truck up more coming out, stupid drunk....

Got one better. A fella got his 4x4 powerstroke stuck to the axle at a friends house. My brother hooks up his 97 4x4 powerstroke and starts to go and he gets stuck too (inexperience and too much throttle), so my truck gets hooked up to both and pulls them both out!

Well my brother repaid me when I got mine stuck in my own yard with my camper hooked up. My tractor couldn't get me out, and he comes and just puts it in 4L and takes his foot off the brake, gives it a little rev, and we're free!

2WD with limited slip & Good AT or mud tires will go many places well. They are not 4WD. The tires are a huge component of traction, to say the least.

I almost got stuck in wet grass with my last 2500 4X4 WITH Limited Slip.... I had some 285-Pro-Comp AT's (Suck) and the truck was parked for 3 to 4 hours while I deer hunted. Came out of the stand and started her up. She was a 6-spd so I had her in 1st gear and just let off the fuel pedal. I could tell instantly that I was spinning so I jerked it back into 4 HI. Still a NO-GO with Both rear and one front tire spinning. I put her in 4-Lo and had to rock the truck back and forth ending in 2nd gear and hammering it to get out ....... That showed me that a Cummins Powered Dodge was not the 4X4 Machine I needed for the trails into camp. Also slid off the side of a dirt/wet/muddy road....flat road...and got stuck . Once that front end starts to go that is all she wrote ..... My 1500 will go many more places that the 2500 would... Just cannot get the darn mileage with the HEMI

The last time I got the Ram stuck in the woods I sold my Buick Lesabre and bought a Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep will go so many places I wouldn't even think about taking the truck, pluss it is a whole lot easyer to weave the Jeep around the trees in the woods
