Well, the point Im at it would be cheaper, easier, and probably more reliable to get me a Gorilla 56

Couple of extra gears would be nice though. An extra over drive for no tow/highway economy would make me think about swapping one in.

Why don'cha just swap in a Roadranger 10 speed overdrive and be done with it? You know you WANT to! You could mount a small 12 volt air compressor somewhere, wouldn't need to be big. Those tranny's don't use a lot of air just to switch between ranges.

I'm sooo gonna take Big Red for a drive while you up north trying to stay warm. Hey Tim, you thinking what I'm thinking?

10 speeds are for wimps. Throw the 16s Allison in there and be done with it.

If it is an 8 speed manual HO that you could get in the Longhorn Larimie trim with DEF, I would be interested.

I'd go with the 13. Or a 15. Just not a 15 deep reduction. After 10+ years with a 10 or 13, the 300 RPM drop just screws you up big-time.

Rode in a Pete with a 18. Guy hit every gear, every time. Even bobtailing. Talk about whiplash.

I sure hope you are wrong about that, cause if you're right I might have to spend some money.

My friend works for Cummins and he just got back from Seattle working on the new motor. They are going to DEF. The only thing else he told me was that the new trucks will have even more sensors. I'm trying to get more information from him.

Funny how they are running ads bragging they are the only one not using DEF...

I'd have no problem filling a DEF tank if it meant significantly better MPG and lower operating cost.
