Do you think diesel truck drivers have a certain "respect" for eachother?
I am not even 20 yet

All the younger generation here actually wave at every truck that looks tall. The older generation seems not to care......they just wave.

I can tell you a pain in the neck on the road. Especially with the race car drivers pulling a 40 plus trailer and generally a duramax. I am in the big truck in a hilly area. I am riding with my 500 hp on cruise at 65 to 67, both up hill and down hill. The duramax and sometimes others, ford and dodge, have to show their stuff, beat you up the hill. Mostly can't make it around and fall back and do that a few times. Most of the time i just ignore them, but sometimes I get a little ticked and shower down on it, take it up to 75 or so, then let it settle back to cruise speed.
And Hey, I have done the same. 50,000 pounds and 500 hp is not going to get taken by a 300 hp pickup loaded max. From the light, yep, you bet. Takes me forever to get rolling, but then it just cruises. Afteer blowing them off, they seem to just disappear. Now RV drivers.... ahhh off my soapbox!

lol ^. I had a similar experience today. I think fullsize trucks owners have more of a competition feel than respect. I guess that's a type of respect since they feel the need to try to beat u even when ur just cruisin at 55 on ur way home, lol. But anyway, a new f-350 pulls up behind me and i have the cruise on with the window down listenin to my truck, and he won't let me just cruise he's gotta pull to the side like he's gonna pass and stuff, so I just punched it and left some smoke and sure enough he backed off and drove normally. I won't even attempt to race someone from a stop because it takes me time to shift, but catch me cruisin in 4th or 5th and it's another story (even though i try not to speed anymore with the tickets i've had)
I would like to say there is some respect up here in alberta but NONE!!!!! now there is a few of us that will blow some smoke at each other in good fun and give a nood when we roll by but all the stupid 20-30 year old rig workers or other field related jobs (biased i know, seen as i wrench on heavy equipment in the field and i am 19) the good guys drive d-max's and 7.3 fords and the 1st gen dodges to old headlight 3rd gens. 6.0's are usally ****** and alot of the newer dodges are just flat out jerks.
The record for speeding tickets that I know of is 101, no mis-type there! And about 30 of them are 100+mph.
That is bad new there as I had joked with him that the cops knew his car. He said yep. Got a ticket for no license b/c gthe cop had busted him 2 mo before and they took away his license. Then he went to sell the car and I laughed at the thought of someone buying it and driving down 2 blocks and getting pulled over b/c they thought it was him.

It depends...Usually, since i drive a dodge, Id get more respect from a dodge than a ford or chevy but not always the case. And as far as pulling up next to someone at a stoplight, i dont think starting a race is disrespectful(thats half the reason most of us are here in the first place) but if the race leads to road rage or aggressive driving after its over then there's lots of things wrong with that and can put a lot of people in danger. This has happened to me many times but usually its from a car that i beat not from another truck.

Around here, some guys with diesels give the friendly nod or wave, some don't do anything at all, and the ford 6.0 owners always try to act cool. I also noticed the Hemi guys don't have much respect, probably becasue they think the hemi is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Personally I have respect for other diesels. My favorite look is when a truck or car pulls up next to me at a light and looks down the whole truck for a badge that says what is in it. Mines debadges so they either roll the window down and here the rattle or they get an ear full when the business end of the truck goes by them.
I may be wrong here, but it seems like everyone driving diesel trucks just look at one another as competition like we are at a race track. I was coming up behind another Cummins truck yesterday on Route 40 near Washington, PA & cruising about 50 mph. As soon as the car in front of the guy turned....he took off like a bat outta hell. Like he was saying "catch me if you can". Give me a break buddy....we are in a residential area not a race track or open highway.
you're 100% right....but i dont think it's just diesels, or trucks, or mustangs,...but with any vehicle anymore....it' not so much about respect, but about how many idiots are out there on the roads......idiots will do anything for some attention....including trying to race you anywhere else but the track.
around my parts, the youngers diesel guys are no different than the ricers that run around reving on everything that moves...diesel guys are doing the same thing......lets think about that next time we think about reving or blowing smoke into someone else's car.
