Just to be fair, was one of the trucks plugged in and the other one not?
Good vids none the less.

Hmm, those 12v's start pretty easy in the cold. my 2005 does not start that easy in cold weather at all. We should compare a new cummins in a video to the ps. It is funny watching you get out of the truck and then having to go back in though haha. gave me a good chuckle.

I had to edit the video a little bit so you guys couldn't hear what i said when it stalled , I had no worries about going anywhere in a hurry that morning , the dodge fired right up .

And on the fairness part , neither truck had been plugged in at all, ambient temp was about -20 give or take a couple degrees , and as you can tell from the camera moving in the ford video , it was kinda windy .

The only thing i will say for the ford , is after it settles down, it will automatically go onto a high idle , so it will start to warm the cab before the dodge, but the new dodges do that too

My truck isn't a huge fan of starting in any weather to be honest. If it's plugged in, we're golden. I started it this morning in 30* and it's always lumpy for the first 30 seconds. I must say though that JKM's truck started and idled INCREDIBLY smooth for how cold it was without being plugged in.

Cummins will always start better, I blame the psd's struggles in the cold on the HEUI system.

I wonder how the 6.4 will start in the cold.

I blame the PSD starting problems on the glow plugs.

My truck (even with the amount of timing I am running) actually idles really well when it is cold.

Usually i would plug it in every night, because i don't pay the power bill , and i have to walk past the cord hanging on the wall anyways.

internatoinal does have a service bulletin for harder starting in cold weather. they reccomend 5-40 oil. im glad your engine starts great and idles nice in cold weather.
The glow plugs probably do suck , my neighbors vw tdi has glow plugs (I think) and it never has trouble starting in cold weather. how are dmaxs with cold starting?

They do alright, as far as I can tell. We never get below zero here, but my neighbor has never had a problem. I have a camp in the mountains where it gets anywhere from 20 to 30 below. I knew a few people with Duramax's up there, but all of them plug in. That's just one thing you remember to do up there
