Cummins 4BTA Swap Info
Cummins 4BTA Swap Info
I will be purchasing a 4BTA (CPL#857) in the near future. My plans are to install it into my '81 FJ-40. The motor originally came with a TH400 tranny, what I would like to use is a Dodge NV4500. Is this possible with the motor I am about to purchase? What parts am I going to need to change from a GM to Dodge NV4500 equipment? I would like to avoid using the GM NV4500 tranny because of the smaller clutch. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone also provide me with any info on the CPL number, such as aftercooled or not.
Thanks

I got a quote from Arsco http://arsco.com/index.html for 3000.00 and shipping of 350.00 to Alaska. The shipping was my biggest problem with anyone else. If you want to buy a rebuilt motor www.rebuiltdieselengines.com was the best I could find and only 175 to ship to Alaska. That is pretty cheap as far as shipping such a heavy item. The motors from Arsco are under 60,000 miles, 30 day warranty, and are set-up with to run the TH400. They also come with the flywheel.
