I was thinking the same thing! So far for mine, it may have seen 20 degrees once without being plugged in. The grid heaters do great.

Good God Almighty! -25 degrees? Man, forget that. You'd have to spin around in a circle to take a leak outside, cause it would be freezing before it hit the gound. Single digits here are quite rare, but I have started it at 8 degrees once, and it did fine.

About -5°F for me without the plug. I usually plug in at a lot higher temps than that, though. It's just easier on everything that way.... but it is nice to know that it will start without plugging in if I need it to.

I think it was right close to zero once last year, maybe even below, plugged in for 3 hours, no problem.

Last night it was down around 15 degrees, truck had been in the light rail parking lot for 11 hours, getting snowed on for 7 of those.
Hit the remote start button when I got of the train, truck started by the time I got to the end of the platform (15-20 seconds), was smoking like a mosquito fogger by the time I hit the parking lot, and was slowly ramping up the idle as I slid across the lot, and was idling right around 1200 when I opened the door and covered the driver seat with snow.
I swear there's suction involved, as the snow made it all the way across the center seat when I opened the door.

Minus 35F many times but plugged in.
Minus 5 is the coldest not plugged in, it smoked so bad that I couldn't see to back up for at least five minutes.

HEHE....I was thinking the same thing! I got so tired of having a seat full of snow when I open the door that I decided to keep a snow brush by the back door of the house. I just grab that on my way out the door when it has been snowing. That way I don't have to open the door first and get a snow drift on my seat to get the brush out of the truck.

Last winter when the temps were a bit more normal it started during the -30° days without plugging in and not even cycling the grid heaters......**

The worst cold start was after sitting at the GF airport for 4 days. It wasn't much below zero, but I still had 15W-40 oil in the crankcase. And NO Espar.

** Espar ran for 2 hours prior.

I know its not the coldest temp, but my dad started my 93 at +5* with no grid heater. Took 3 tries, but it started.
