Cold start - again
Cold start - again
It's about this time of year that I need to go back to Kcatsun's video of his cold starts at -20F. For anyone who's not seen it, here's his 6.0h-no starting up...

here's how a real diesel should start:

I used to drive tow trucks, had a few 6.5 chevy's, lots of 7.3 na fords, lots a t444e IH's and a few others, but never a cummins wrecker, anyway we always had problems starting them once it got below freezing,
I get a kick out of it, here my cummins has 7 year old "5year batteries" has the fuel heater removed, and the grids diconected and my truck still starts down in the 20's with no problems, it doesn't like it, but it starts...
By the way its getting new batteries, cables, grid heater wires, and fuel heater put back on this weekend. Had a nasty corrosion problem on my cables, but I was waiting to see if these batteries would die while I got the funds for the cables and new die hard platnium AGM batt's

It was -20C , not quite as cold , but close.
I have caught alot of flak about those two videos , mostly from the ford crowd saying my Dodge must have been plugged in because there was no snow on the window etc etc The ford had just been sitting for one extra day, it snowed two nights before.
We have a D max where i work right now , and it starts as good as the cummins does.
